Abduction Side Lying with Knee Flexion
This is a hard exercise. It takes a very cooperative and/or motivated client (preferably both) to perform this accurately.Sometimes I do this exercise with the child lying on his side facing a wall with only a little space between him and the wall. I tell him to abduct his leg with his knee bent but keep his knee off the wall. So many of my children get hip flexion when they try to abduct their hip.You can have the child perform this activity with no resistance or manual resistance or with Velcro soft weights at the thigh.I document the number of repetitions and weight used (if any) in the daily note.
