A Little Weak with the Chin Tuck? Strengthen Neck Flexors!

I love using the ball for strengthening work. Unless a child is fearful of the ball, they LOVE the ball. This makes it fun for both of us. In this exercise, lower support provided by the therapist makes this activity more challenging. If I wanted to provide more support, I could have supported all the way up to the shoulders to isolate only neck flexion. The bigger the posterior tilt, the harder the challenge.Different size children are easily accommodated with different size balls. The lower I support the child, the more challenging this activity is.Given the same size child, the smaller the ball, the more challenging this activity becomes. If the child does fall backward, roll the ball quickly toward you and the child will be safe on top of the ball.In general, lower support provided by the therapist makes this activity more challenging.
