Lateral Flexion Supine Reaching Hand to Heel Hooklying

Supine is an often forgotten place to work on Lateral Flexion. It discourages trunk flexion and rotation substitutions. In supine, the client has to laterally flex far enough to touch his hand to his heel to each side when he lays hook lying. This means that more than just trunk work has come in. Abductor and adductors are assisting according to the leg and the direction my client is going to. This is a fantastic exercise for my clients with diplegia and hemiplegia, but also good for my common client with core weakness. This exercise is easiest on slick floors, next hardest on mats, and then quite difficult on carpeting.
